Role Overview
The Programme Delivery team delivers Tes Institute’s teacher training, teaching assistant training, and professional development programmes across the UK and internationally, through both online and in-person formats.
As Head of Programme Delivery – SKE, you will hold strategic and operational responsibility for the intent, implementation, and quality of the Subject Knowledge Enhancement programme. Reporting to the Director of Programme Delivery, you will work closely with the wider Tes Institute leadership team, the central Academic Services team, and Programme Delivery colleagues to ensure we provide exceptional experiences for learners and consistently deliver outstanding outcomes.
This role requires a deep understanding of the variety of routes into teaching and professional development, combined with the ability to lead programme delivery at scale while driving innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the strategic and operational delivery of outstanding teacher training and development education for the SKE programme.
* Collaborate with Programme Delivery Managers to ensure a consistent, high-quality learner experience and compliance across all aspects of delivery.
* Allocate resources effectively, including tutors and internal teams, to facilitate growth and ensure robust programme implementation.
* Uphold and enhance the fidelity of delivery to the programme’s intent while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging feedback and QA outcomes to develop the programme and enhance learner outcomes.
* Oversee programme governance, ensuring compliance with statutory duties, inspection readiness, and accurate reporting to external stakeholders.
* Represent the programme externally with key stakeholders, including the Department for Education and delivery partners.
* Monitor trainee satisfaction, progress, and completion, ensuring high engagement and retention rates.
* Work closely with the central Academic Services team to integrate their expertise and ensure consistency across programme design and delivery.
* Collaborate with wider Tes functions, including Sales and Marketing, to support learner recruitment and identify growth opportunities.
* Report directly to the Director of Programme Delivery on programme performance, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
* Experience in successfully delivering and managing teacher training and development programmes, with the ability to use data and insight to inform strategy and decision-making.
* Strong understanding of teacher training routes, ongoing sector reforms (including ITTECF), and professional development pathways beyond initial teacher training.
* Prior experience managing teams, coaching and influencing colleagues to deliver innovative and high-quality outcomes.
* Demonstrable experience in preparing for and leading through regulatory inspections, such as Ofsted (desirable).
* Experience of managing programme delivery via blended learning models, ensuring a seamless experience across online and in-person delivery.
* A teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) is essential; an NPQLTD, NPQH, NPQEL, or relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable.
* Commercial awareness, with a solutions-focused and innovative approach to programme leadership.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with high emotional intelligence and a people-first mindset.
