Job Description:
We are currently looking to recruit 3-4 Nursing students or Level 2/3 Health and Social Care qualified individuals who are keen to develop and work in a complex care environment supporting young adults. These positions involve working evenings and weekends supporting families with 2:1 care, providing valuable nurse-led training to support:
Nursing training provided includes:
* PEG feeding (training and competency assessment)
* Dysphasia (training and competency assessment)
* Cough assist/VENT (training and competency assessment)
* Complex epilepsy/rescue medications (training and competency assessment)
* Specific clinical diagnosis training, e.g., complex cerebral palsy
* Clinical medicines management and administration (training and competency assessment)
* Additional training based on clinical needs
The role involves:
* Medical Management: Tracheostomy care, ventilator management, catheter management, epilepsy care, feeding tube management.
* Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, mobility, hygiene, and medication administration.
* Care Planning: Following and adapting detailed care plans.
* Coordination of Care: Working with families, healthcare professionals, and caregivers.
* Emotional Support: Supporting individuals and families emotionally.
* Monitoring and Assessment: Tracking patient conditions and reporting issues.
* Respiratory Care: Airway management, suctioning, oxygen therapy, ventilator management.
* Nutrition and Hydration: Managing feeding tubes, stomas, nutritional needs.
* Bowel and Catheter Care: Managing bowel programs and catheter procedures.
* Epilepsy Management: Recognizing seizures, administering rescue medications, managing epilepsy.
Training may also include wound management, including pressure sores. Drivers who can use a family, modified car are preferred, but driving is not essential. These positions are with KV Care, a growing provider in North West England, serving communities with diverse care needs.
Requirements:
Proficiency in written and spoken English, minimum Level 2 in Social Care or pursuing nursing/medical qualifications in the UK. At least 1 year of experience in social care or hospital settings in the UK is required. Preference for candidates familiar with the local community and care frameworks.
Shift patterns typically include: 4 pm to 9/10 pm, supporting families on evenings and weekends. Pay ranges from £13 to £13.80 per hour, with reduced rates during training. Hours are flexible, between 20 and 40 hours guaranteed per week.
