Overview

Environmental Sustainability Advisor- Carbon – Ipswich (BTNO project) with the Power T&D team. This role provides Carbon management support across preconstruction and delivery phases, focusing on carbon baselining, forecasting, benchmarking and associated processes to enable PAS 2080 compliance and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities

* Undertake carbon baselining and forecasting on live projects to ensure carbon estimates are complete, use tailored carbon factors where available, and are auditable for PAS 2080 compliance
* Provide carbon analysis from Candy or support others to do so, to inform preconstruction and delivery teams of hotspots and focus for carbon reductions
* Support the development of processes to collate actual carbon data from in-flight projects
* Ensure carbon benchmarking data is periodically fed back into benchmarking during preconstruction and delivery stages, with checks for consistency and accuracy
* Promote the use of common coding and standardised templates and processes to facilitate data collection for benchmarking
* Support periodic reporting of carbon benchmarking data during preconstruction and delivery stages, ensuring data consistency and accuracy
* Support the development of training and guidance documents to ensure consistency of carbon estimating and maintenance of required standards
* Assist preconstruction and project teams to produce options assessments (currently cost and carbon, with future potential for time) and to upskill the business in this capability
* Provide timely, accurate input to carbon estimating and optioneering; support continual improvement of carbon processes and systems


Qualifications & Qualities

* Demonstrable industry experience in a technical role (engineering / commercial) on major infrastructure / civil engineering projects with understanding of construction methods, processes and temporary works
* Experience of bid, preconstruction or construction delivery phases on major complex civil engineering projects
* Interest in developing carbon estimating skills using Candy and driving carbon management capability across the business
* Good interpersonal, planning, management and organisational skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to work effectively in a team and as a self-starter
* Experience with engineering or commercial processes supporting multi-level projects and programmes
* Desire to upskill others to foster lasting positive changes in business practice
