About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our specialist SEMH school in Southend-on-Sea. Our school supports pupils who display challenging behaviour and require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning successfully ✨
The Role
As an SEN LSA, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
2. Support students displaying challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
3. Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
4. Help create a safe, structured and nurturing environment
5. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils ❤️
6. Support emotional regulation and social skills development
7. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
8. Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour
9. A calm, patient and resilient approach
10. Strong communication and relationship-building skills ️
11. The ability to de-escalate situations confidently and safely
12. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners ❤️
13. Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach – desirable but not essential)
