Job Overview
Hours: 3 hours on Friday, 2 hours on Saturday, plus cover for holidays. Area: Ryton, Gateshead. Rate: £14.02 per hour.
Driving is essential. The role is to drive a 50‑year‑old man with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis who relies on an electric wheelchair to the gym and social appointments. Typical routes include Benmar House, Choppington Rd, Morpeth NE61 2HX; Leadgate Community Centre, Plantation Street, Leadgate, County Durham DH8 7PP; and monthly meetings with other MS patients on the first Tuesday of the month at Jolly Drovers, Pont Rd, Leadgate, Consett DH8 6RR.
Responsibilities
* Drive the patient to gym and social appointments.
* Attend the monthly MS social meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
* Cover for existing PAs during holidays and other absences.
* Walk the patient’s dog, Alice, a small Bichon/Cavalier cross, who does not cast hair.
Requirements
* Valid, clean UK driving licence.
* Ability to drive a WAV‑converted VW Caddy automatic.
* Dog‑walking experience or willingness to walk a small dog.
* Sense of humour and common‑sense approach to assistance.
* Must have permission to work in the United Kingdom.
Working hours are usually 12:00 – 17:00 on weekdays and a few hours on Saturday.
