School Research Grant Assistant (Fixed Term)
Applications are invited for the role of School Research Grant Assistant within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences. This exciting and varied post supports research grant administration and research‑related objectives across the School, as part of a flexible team of School Research Grant Administrators / Assistants. The Assistant provides expert support and guidance to Principal Investigators (PIs) and department‑based research staff, ensuring timely, accurate and risk‑mitigated research grant applications. The role holder works collaboratively with PIs and project support staff to enable effective and efficient grant management of active research grants across the School.
Responsibilities
* Provide financial and administrative support and guidance across the full grant lifecycle to academic, research and administrative staff, enabling effective and efficient grant management.
* Create and circulate accessible information about grant opportunities; work with relevant staff to support the development of grant applications and post‑award activities, maximizing income and mitigating risk using University systems such as Worktribe, CHRIS and CUFS.
* Be an excellent communicator, relating to a wide range of people and acting as an effective team player with a flexible approach.
* Possess high‑level organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to take initiative and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines.
The successful applicant will join a team of experienced research grant personnel and work collaboratively across the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences. While experience in a research role is advantageous, applications from individuals with transferable skills are welcome as full training in research grant systems and processes will be provided where required.
This is a 1.0 FTE role, based primarily at the School Office but also in departmental premises and remotely. Working hours and pattern can be discussed at interview.
Fixed‑term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
