This is a great opportunity for apprentices to gain hands-on experience in the foundry industry within a British-owned company competing globally for over 150 years. William Lee produces iron castings for international clients such as BMW, Mercedes, Daimler, Borg, Castings, and GT. With four foundries on site and over 400 personnel, there are ample opportunities to learn about the company, with direct mentorship from our skilled team while studying a Level 3 qualification through the AMRC Training Centre.

Completing an apprenticeship at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre provides a nationally recognized qualification, respected by employers worldwide. This qualification can lead to further opportunities in engineering management and project engineering across various sectors globally.


Role & Responsibilities:

1. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, complying with the Company’s Health and Safety requirements to ensure safety for yourself and others.
2. Conduct risk assessments for all jobs using the 'Take Two' method.
3. Communicate effectively with peers and management.
4. Work as part of the Maintenance Team to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
5. Become proficient in the Company’s TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) system to ensure the efficient running of plant assets.
6. Keep the work area clean and tidy after completing tasks.
7. Install and maintain new and existing equipment, ensuring uninterrupted production.
8. Contribute ideas and participate in plant improvements.


Health, Safety & Environment:

1. Comply with the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring they are understood and followed.
2. Wear and maintain the correct personal protective equipment at all times.
3. Report and record all accidents in the accident book.
4. Immediately clear up spillages and ensure emergency equipment is available.

You will undertake a Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship, leading to a qualification in Engineering at Level 3 upon completion.

During the first year, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre in Rotherham, initially through full-time study. Subsequently, you will attend the Training Centre one day a week for knowledge sessions.

You will work Monday to Friday. Your start, finish times, and shift pattern will be determined by the employing company.
