As the Apheresis Specialist Nurse, you will be based at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, within the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre, hosted by the Clinical Research Facility.
Main Duties
* Provide all aspects of clinical care for patients and stem cell donors.
* Act as part of a highly skilled specialist team and source clinical expertise.
* Take responsibility for the care of donors/patients requiring specialist apheresis procedures under the guidance of the Apheresis Nurse Manager.
* Deliver the apheresis service on behalf of Anthony Nolan, assessing, treating and referring donors/patients to other members of the clinical team as required.
Clinical Practice
* Maintain specialist knowledge of apheresis, complying with service guidelines.
* Competent in care and management of peripheral venous catheters, central venous catheters, venepuncture, cannulation, intravenous drug administration, apheresis and blood product administration.
* Ensure safe administration of treatments and medications and understanding of the donor/patient clinical pathway.
Essential Training and Qualifications
* First level registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).
* Degree or equivalent diploma.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Completion of intravenous medication package.
* Cannulation and venepuncture proficiency.
* Completion of an apheresis training programme.
Desirable
* Teaching/mentorship course.
* Teaching and assessing experience.
* Service development or improvement experience.
Essential Experience
* Post‑registration clinical experience in apheresis practices and procedures.
* Supervision of registered and non‑registered staff and students.
* Ability to manage workload efficiently and effectively.

* Physically capable of performing the full range of nursing duties.
* Dexterity in clinical skills, equipment use and documentation.
* Manual handling and flexible working days, including weekends.
