Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
1. MRCP
2. IT Skills and computer literacy
3. Broad based training in geriatric medicine and its subspecialties/ Broad based professional training in general medicine
4. GMC registration - Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT/CSER), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
Desirable criteria
5. MD, PhD or equivalent
6. NHS experience within the last 3 years
Management, Audits and reasearch
Essential criteria
7. Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
8. Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
9. Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives.
10. Understanding and experience of audit
11. Knowledge of research methodology
Desirable criteria
12. Management qualification or current study towards management qualification.
13. Evidence of service audit, design or change management.
14. Publications in peer review journals
15. Presentations to learned societies.
Personal skills
Essential criteria
16. Energy and enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure
17. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other staff and agencies.
18. Knowledge of finance and budgets
19. Commitment to deliver a high-quality service with patient welfare at forefront of practice. 1
