The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of education across the Borough.
This role is central to ensuring the Council meets its statutory duty to provide sufficient school places and maintain safe, high-quality learning environments. You will lead the delivery of major capital projects within the education estate and negotiate developer contributions to support school place planning.
Your work will directly impact the provision for children and young people in Tameside, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans, and ensure our schools remain fit for purpose for generations to come.
About You
You will be an experienced project manager with a proven track record of delivering complex development projects and programmes, ideally within a public sector context. You’ll bring strong financial management skills, excellent communication abilities, and the confidence to negotiate with developers and external partners.
To succeed in this role, you will have experience managing large-scale capital projects from inception to completion, with expertise in project delivery using sound methodologies and techniques. Strong analytical and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver under pressure.
