Opportunity
We are seeking experienced and ambitious Senior Structural Engineers to join our Civil & Structural team. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with departments such as MEP, Nuclear, Smart Energy and Sustainability. Projects typically range from £10M‑£50M in value across sectors including Education, Residential, Heritage, Healthcare, Commercial, Logistics, Distribution and Defence.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
* Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects, from concept and scheme design to detailed design, tender, and construction packages.
* Oversee the preparation of calculation packages for submission to Building Control and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
* Provide technical oversight and review contributions from project engineers and technicians.
* Promote innovation in design while maintaining high‑quality standards and adhering to Stantec's quality assurance processes.
Team Management
* Manage and develop graduate engineers, engineers, and technicians within your team.
* Take ownership of resource planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of team capacity across projects.
* Contribute to divisional initiatives such as task groups and design innovation.
Client and Business Development
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and contractors.
* Support the preparation of fee proposals, bids, and ITTs.
* Participate in client networking and represent the team at industry events, focusing on cultivating new opportunities.
About You
* MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Chartered or Incorporates Engineer (or actively working towards it) with IStructE/ICE chartered status.
* Proven experience in building structures design across various sectors.
* Proficiency in analysis, modelling, and hand calculations.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams on projects.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients and inspire team members.
