This is a permanent part-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. At Shark Bay School we have supportive families and dedicated staff committed to ongoing school improvement. We are a Kindergarten to Year 12 school which provides opportunities for leadership and professional development. Our school setting is in a World Heritage Area 900 km from Perth, providing excellent opportunities for real world learning.

The Role

In this role, the successful applicant will be expected to supervise the daily operations of the library, including providing reference, information, and associated services to students and teaching staff. This role includes administering library systems to ensure accurate records through cataloguing, archiving, and updating descriptor notes, while also processing resources to guarantee their constant availability to the school community.

The successful applicant will ideally be a customer‑focused individual, offering advice and training on library skills, equipment, computers, audio‑visual resources, and the internet. Furthermore, the role encompasses resource management throughout the school including preparing and monitoring the library budget, making purchase recommendations, and designing relevant displays.

Administrative and supervisory duties are also essential, such as coordinating library visit rosters, supervising subordinate library staff or volunteers, and providing general administrative support to the front office, including preparing communications and managing databases.

The successful applicant will also supervise small groups of students outside lesson times or in class learning activities relating to the library.

Eligibility

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* Consent to and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
