What skills and experience we're looking for
We arelooking to appoint an aspirational member of staff who has high expectationsand standards for students and who is committed to achieving positive outcomesfor students. The ideal candidate will have an interest in supporting studentswho have mental health concerns and students who require support to reintegrateback into full time education. You must be able to work collaboratively and maybe required to travel between campuses. This role will require you to work withstudents 1:1 or in small groups, to deliver academic and emotional supportsessions. You will communicate with parents and other agencies involved in thepupil's education so being able to communicate in a professional manner isessential.
The InclusionLeader has a team of staff including ELSAs, pastoral staff (who are TALAtrained) and two Wellbeing Centre Assistant Leaders who are trained intherapeutic interventions such as draw and talk. The role of Centre Assistantis a new and exciting opportunity for someone to work alongside this team tolearn from the experiences of senior staff and develop their own understandingof strategies and therapeutic interventions to support students. The team areskilled and passionate about supporting vulnerable students across the schooland have developed a strong provision for students with emotional needs. Thevision of the Inclusion Leader is for all students to return to full timeeducation where they feel a sense of belonging and are supported by the widerschool staff. The Inclusion Leader moves between both campuses to haveoversight over the provision for students who access the Wellbeing Centre. Itis not essential that the ideal candidate has qualifications in specificinterventions but they may be willing to undertake training in an area based onthe needs of the school in the future.
Main responsibilities:
* To undertakeCPD in therapeutic interventions or strategies to support EBSA.
* To providesupport to students who are placed in the Wellbeing Centre and oversee theirdaily provision.
* To beresponsible for the organisation of the Wellbeing Centre including providingappropriate resources each day.
* To workcollaboratively with wider school staff and those in the wellbeing team toensure that provision is consistent and communicated to stakeholders.
* To deliver1:1 and small group lessons with students who are placed in the WellbeingCentre.
* To monitorstudents and report any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns.
* Tocommunicate with parents and relevant stakeholders.
* To upholdBritish Values (as specified by the Department for Education).
What the school offers its staff
The WellbeingCentre opened in February 2024 to support students who have emotionally basedschool avoidance (EBSA), it is designed to be a safe and supportive space wherestudents can develop strategies and resilience to return to full timeeducation. Students who access the Wellbeing Centre are referred by seniorstaff and are placed on a clear plan which includes targets to support reintegration.Students will have a bespoke timetable; this may be full or part time dependingon their needs. All plans are created in agreement with parents and relevantstakeholders. The Wellbeing Centre provision runs across both campuses; thelargest provision is based on the Cherbourg Campus.
Crestwood Community School had an Ofstedinspection in February 2024, which confirmed that we continue to be a 'good' school. The report stated that at Crestwood "there is a welcoming, friendlyatmosphere". They also said that "teachers and support staff, including thosein the early stages of their career, are proud to work at the school. They particularlyvalue school leader's careful consideration of their workload and well-being sothat they can focus their efforts fully on pupils' education." In addition,Ofsted report that "many pupils, staffand parents describe the school as a 'big family'. This is a happy school,where staff and students want to be.
