We are looking for Engineers with experience in working with automated material handling systems to join our dedicated Automation team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of our impressive state-of-the-art 2.5m square foot Distribution Centre in Shirebrook, which is equivalent to over 30 football pitches and is one of the most advanced warehouses in the UK during this exciting period of growth.
Job Description
You will provide site-based engineering support to minimize downtime and ensure uptime and availability of the installed automated equipment on site. By adopting a professional engineering approach and a commitment to service quality, you will support the shift team by utilizing a broad range of skills and taking a proactive approach to improving performance and reliability.
You will report directly to the Shift Automation Manager and will also be mentored by the Senior Engineer. The role involves working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (rotation of days/nights).
Primary Responsibilities Include:
1. Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance and repair of all onsite automated equipment.
2. Perform planned and reactive repairs of automated material handling equipment including tote conveyors, spiral conveyors, sorters, shuttles, and robotics.
3. Diagnose mechanical and/or electrical faults and carry out fault-finding.
4. Respond to automation faults and breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
5. Prioritize system faults to optimize uptime and availability of onsite automated equipment.
6. Complete all reports in line with requirements using CMMS and Microsoft software packages.
7. Comply with health and safety legislation as a top priority.
8. Participate in the delivery, installation, commissioning, and testing of upgrades and enhancements.
9. Maintain optimum levels of onsite spare parts.
10. Support site meetings as required.
11. Mentor, train, and advise junior team members.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship, ONC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline (multiskilled preferable).
* Experience working with automated material handling systems.
* Ability to work at height.
* Capable of understanding Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Electronic technical manuals and drawings.
* Proven competence in Health & Safety.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Basic understanding of control systems and techniques.
* Ability to work in a time-critical environment.
* Effective time and workload management skills.
* PC literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
