A council based in Devon is looking to appoint an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial rolling 3-month contract to support the team with a significant backlog of HMO cases.
This is an excellent opportunity for an officer who can hit the ground running and manage a busy caseload across HMO licensing, inspections, and enforcement activity.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing and processing HMO licensing applications
* Carrying out HHSRS inspections
* Investigating housing complaints and breaches
* Undertaking enforcement action in line with housing legislation
* Supporting the council in reducing a large backlog of HMO cases
* Working closely with landlords, tenants, and internal departments
Requirements
* Previous experience working within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team
* Strong working knowledge of HMO Licensing, Housing Act 2004, HHSRS and enforcement procedures
* EHRB registration preferred but not essential
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Full UK driving licence preferred
Contract Details
* Initial 3-month contract with likely extension
* £45+ per hour DOE
