PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £48,000 - £58,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the Role
As Senior Journalist Team manager for Talking Point, you will drive the editorial vision and day to day production of BBC Arabic's flagship interactive debate programme. You will ensure we continue to deliver thought provoking, impartial and audience driven content across TV, and digital platforms, amplifying voices from across the Arab world and upholding BBC editorial standards.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Editorial Leadership: Shape the daily and long term editorial agenda, ensuring stories are compelling, accurate and impartial. Commission and develop debate questions and audience interactions that reflect real public concerns.
• Production Skills: Oversee the planning, scripting, live recording and post production processes across TV, radio and digital.
Co ordinate with presenters, technical teams, and external guests to guarantee smooth delivery.
• Team Management: Line manage a team of producers, researchers, and digital content creators; set objectives, coach and appraise performance.
• Audience Engagement & Growth: Monitor and analyse audience feedback and metrics; adapt formats and promotion strategies to maximise reach and impact.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Native level Arabic; excellent written and spoken English.
Minimum 5 years in a current affairs/news environment, with demonstrable track record in multi platform production.
Proven ability to lead mid sized teams, mentor talent and drive performance in fast paced settings.
Strong understanding of audience driven formats and tools (phone in, social media interactivity ).
In depth familiarity with political, social, and cultural dynamics of the Middle East and North Africa.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Comfortable working with studio broadcast systems, digital publishing, and analytics dashboards.
Able to make clear, impartial editorial judgments under tight deadlines and navigate complex legal/ethical issues.
