Junior Quantity Surveyor
* Location: Nationwide
* Reports to: Commercial Manager
* Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for construction and a keen eye for detail, offering a pathway for career progression within the industry.
Day-to-day of the role:
Estimating & Budgeting
* Assist in preparing cost estimates for tenders and pre-construction stages.
* Review technical drawings and scopes of work to produce accurate cost breakdowns.
* Support project budgeting and financial forecasting.
* Provide pricing for reactive maintenance and small works packages.
* Contribute to tender submissions for larger commercial projects.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and support value engineering.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
* Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
* Assist with the procurement of materials and services in line with project timelines.
* Maintain effective communication to ensure timely responses and avoid delays.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Commercial & Contract Support
* Prepare and support documentation such as tender packs, pricing schedules, and bills of quantities.
* Assist with contract administration including variations, interim valuations, and final accounts.
* Keep all commercial records up to date and well organised.
* Support monthly financial reporting and cost/value reconciliations.
Use of CRM – Big Change
* Consistently update project, procurement, and commercial data within Big Change.
* Track and update quote status to maintain workflow visibility.
* Ensure the system is accurately maintained to support commercial decisions.
* Encourage and support effective use of Big Change across teams.
Project Support & Communication
* Attend site visits and project meetings to assist with assessments and monitor progress.
* Communicate with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to resolve issues promptly.
* Collaborate with Project and Operations Managers to ensure alignment between costs and delivery.
Time Management & Organisation
* Prioritise tasks effectively to meet client and internal deadlines.
* Manage your diary and workload independently with minimal supervision.
* Work well under pressure in a fast-paced and reactive environment.
* Take ownership of responsibilities and escalate risks where necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications

* Excellent attention to detail with a proactive and responsible attitude.
* Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
* Highly organised, with effective diary and workload management skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and confidence communicating with all levels.
* Comfortable using digital platforms and open to adopting new tools like Big Change.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
* Basic understanding of construction drawings, contract terms, and commercial practices.
