As the Senior Contract Manager, you will report directly to the Grid Solutions Regional Contract Management Leader and indirectly to the Project Director. You will work closely with the Project Team and be responsible for all contractual activities within the Projects portfolio.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Analyze contracts thoroughly and develop the Project’s contract and commercial strategy in collaboration with the Project Director.
2. Present contractual analysis and commercial strategies to the Project Team, including issuing the Contract Questionnaire, Contract Commercial Plan (CCP), and other relevant deliverables as per Contract Management processes.
3. Draft and communicate the Claim and Variation Procedure to the Project Team.
4. Implement contractual procedures related to claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence, and notifications.
5. Identify contractual obligations of GE, the customer/consortium, and third parties, and develop the Project contract commercial plan, including claim strategies.
6. Support risk and opportunity identification and analysis proactively.
7. Manage all contractual activities from project handover from Sales until contractual obligations are fulfilled and issues resolved.
8. Ensure notices are issued in accordance with contract requirements.
9. Manage claims with customers and partners, including negotiations and settlements.
10. Handle claims from contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring appropriate recoveries.
11. Oversee Project variation requests and orders.
12. Manage Project insurances, ensuring coverage compliance, and handle insurance claims.
13. Provide contractual guidance and training to the Project team as needed.
14. Address contractual and legal inquiries, referring to Legal when necessary.
15. Assist in dispute resolution if required.
16. Report on claims, variations, and critical contractual issues to management and relevant departments.
17. Seek management approval for variation orders, amendments, and settlements per delegation of authority.
Experience and Knowledge:
1. Proven experience in claim preparation and negotiation, including strategies for EOT, global claims, and contract renegotiations.
2. Knowledge of delay analysis, including critical path and concurrent delay principles.
3. Understanding of contract law and project risk management.
4. Technical understanding relevant to infrastructure projects, preferably in power generation and transmission.
5. Experience with NEC and FIDIC contract models is preferred.
Skills & Experience:
1. Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
2. Ability to prioritize work and coordinate with stakeholders for information gathering.
3. Influencing skills, intercultural competence, and team orientation.
4. University degree in engineering, quantity surveying, business administration, or law.
5. Accountability and a proactive mindset.
6. Fluent in written and spoken English.
