What You’ll Be Doing
At McDonald’s, technology underpins everything we do, from delivering great customer experiences to supporting our restaurants across the UK&I. As our Software Management Officer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of software across our UK&I restaurants and corporate environments. You’ll develop and deliver patching strategies, oversee software maintenance, and manage the tools and systems that keep our estate operating effectively.
A key part of your role will be communicating annual software investment plans to Franchisees—well ahead of future budget cycles—ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with business needs.
* Software Lifecycle & Asset Management: Lead the strategy, planning, and implementation of software lifecycle management across the UK&I estate.
* Annual Franchisee Investment Programme: Deliver a yearly software investment roadmap to Franchisees, enabling proactive planning.
* OS & Firmware Patch Deployment: Maintain a rolling plan for deploying OS and firmware updates to optimise performance and security.
* Cyber Security Support: Work closely with the Cyber Security team to coordinate the smooth deployment of security patches.
* New Hardware Imaging: Own the configuration of software images for new hardware introductions.
* Patching & Upgrade Schedules: Manage the ongoing schedule of OS, application, security, and firmware updates across UK&I.
* Vendor Collaboration: Partner with vendor management and senior leaders to review software resources and licensing agreements.
* System Requirements & Documentation: Create and maintain processes for determining software system needs and usage.
* Procurement & Legal Support: Assist in budget analysis, vendor proposals, and compliance assessments.
* Software Tracking: Oversee the development and maintenance of accurate software asset inventories.
* Budget & Procurement Integration: Ensure software tracking aligns with financial processes, from acquisition through retirement.
* Global Alignment: Work with global teams to plan and implement emerging technologies to agreed milestones.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong planning and organisational skills
* Ability to work tactfully with vendors and suppliers
* Experience in IT contract administration, purchasing, or procurement
* Expertise in Software Asset Management and licensing models
* Familiarity with CMDB or other asset tracking systems
* Ability to present complex information in simple, clear terms
* ServiceNow System Administrator certification
* Experience with Snow License Manager
* CSAM or similar SAM certification
* ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation
* Experience in food & beverage or another fast‑paced industry
