Core Purpose
The Store Development Project Manager will be responsible for identifying Category Trading Opportunities across the Society’s food Store estate, with the aim of increasing turnover and profitability of the food business.
Accountability & Impact
The post-holder is responsible for ensuring identifying and recommending emerging trends within the c-store sector that the Society can take advantage of to give the Society a competitive advantage. In addition, the post holder in conjunction with the Stock and merchandise, Manager, Operations managers and Building Services manager is responsible for the planning and execution of store refurbishments.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the post-holder has full responsibility for delivering store refurbishments to budget and on time.
These will include but are not exhaustive:
Innovation To identify and recommend for adoption by the Society appropriate ranges and product categories that are emerging in the c-store sector and will drive competitive advantage. The Society has a desire to being a early adopter of new trends rather than a follower.
Merchandising To manage the implementation of new merchandising strategies across the Food store estate.
Store Refurbishments To plan store refurbishments in accordance with the Strategies agreed store format requirements.
To project manager the store refurbishment, delivering the refurbishment on time and within the greed budget.
Communication To ensure that all stakeholders are kept fully informed of refurbishment, new concept or range roll outs to ensure that projects run smoothly and on time.
Project Management To project manage any project that is involves new concepts, ranges or ways of working that will deliver bottom line benefit to the Society.
New Stores/Store Disposals To project manage the integration of new stores into the Society portfolio in the event of acquisitions.
To project manage the disposal of Society stores enduring all stakeholders and kept informed and that the Society’s reputation is maintained throughout the process while minimising financial loss during the closure/transfer process.
Leadership
To lead by example through demonstrating Co-operative values and principles, and co-operative working in performing the day-to-day duties.
Applying Knowledge
The post-holder will need to be forward thinking with the ability to generate new ideas and initiatives. They should possess a high level of professionalism and be able to influence above and below their position.
Working with Others
The role involves interacting daily with staff and Managers of trading outlets and Society staff at all levels.
The post-holder must be able to communicate confidently and clearly to a variety of audiences and be able to influence and motivate the performance of others.
Regular contact must be kept with the Chief Operating Officer, Operations Managers, Fresh Food manager and Stock and Merchandise Manager.
Skills & Knowledge
Professional, proactive and dynamic when dealing with others and able to influence above and below their position.
Negotiation and management of supplier contracts.
Credible management experience in a similar role or property environment.
A good knowledge of Convenience store retailer gained ideally in a Store manager role of field role.
Team Player.
Self-motivated and flexible in the approach to work.
Holder of a full driving licence.
Good IT skills.
Working knowledge of Co-operative Values & Principles.
An ability to understand the balance between commercial success and Co-operative success.
Project Management.
