As a Team Leader, you and your colleagues will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality childrens residential provision including working directly with children and their families as identified within the
Care Plan and in line with the principles of the service and under direction from the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager. Team leaders are an integral part of the team and work alongside other professionals to support our children, young people and their families achieve the best possible outcomes by using a range of intervention methods and approaches.
The role supports the service to achieve its vision of providing support to children, young people and their families ensuring they are safely accommodated.
You will join a team offering a comprehensive therapeutic residential service for children aged between 10-
18 years. within your role you will be required to assist the Registered Manager or deputy in the day-to-day care of young people who are in receipt of residential care in accordance with the values and principles of our residential care service. As a Team Leader, you will undertake key working duties in line with the principles of our Service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:
1. You will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality delivery of residential childrens care. You will achieve this by:
* To lead a team of residential care staff when on shift, ensuring that safe and appropriate care practises are maintained at all times.
* Supporting the Registered Manager and the management team in ensuring compliance with the companys Policies and Procedures, legislation, and social policy.
* Ensuring the voices of children, young people are at the centre of all decision making and their voices are heard and valued as part of planning, intervention and reviewing process and wider service delivery.

* Ensuring you work in partnership with your colleagues and those from other agencies to develop and deliver coordinated packages of support as identified in the childrens/young peoples Care Plan.
* Deputising for the Deputy Manager in their absence of annual leave or sickness only in matters relating to the day-to-day running of the home, attending meetings including Deputy Manager meetings.
* Using preventative intervention models to reduce young peoples involvement in risk-taking behaviour and engaging in unhealthy and unsafe behaviours.
* To physically intervene if a childrens behaviour is dangerous to others or themselves, in accordance with the procedural guidance of the home and relevant legislation.
* Contributing to the development and on the delivery of timely and effective packages of intervention and support to children/young people and families as identified in the Care Plan.
* Working directly with children/young people and families in line with the Care Plan to improve outcomes.
* Encouraging the young person to develop links with the community, attend off-site activities and expand their personal social network.
* Empowering young people and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future
* Contributing to ongoing assessment, planning and review processes in line with policy and procedures to ensure that the aims and objectives of the Care Plan are progressed appropriately.
* To be instrumental in maintaining good communication systems including all meetings, shift handovers and logging.
* To attend regular supervision sessions as required and to carry out supervision sessions if directed by Registered manager.
* To act as a key worker or co-worker for a young person to ensure that the young persons care plans are up to date and that all their care needs are being met. To provide a positive role model to be able to offer advice, guidance, and assistance where appropriate.
* To ensure that the procedures for the security, monitoring, administration, and control of medication is followed. Undertake training to achieve competency in accordance with Bay
Tree House Group policy and procedures.
2. You will be responsible for working with children and young people who are receiving residential care ensuring the values and principles of the Service are achieved and ensuring the safe and robust practice is maintained. In addition to the areas highlighted in section one you will support this by:
* Lead a shift ensuring that all staff working with you maintain a professional approach to their work whilst ensuring the needs of a child or young person is met in accordance with their age and stage of development.
* To maintain the development of positive childcare practice in keeping with the aims and objectives of the home.

* Ensuring the fabric of the building, equipment and grounds meet the Quality Standards for Childrens Homes and Childrens Homes Regulations. and reporting any deterioration in the condition of the premises to the Manager and arrange for any maintenance work as directed.
* Being accountable, as part of a team, for the delivery of the highest possible quality care that meet the needs of children/young people, Quality Standards for Childrens Homes and Childrens Homes Regulations.
* Ensure security of the House, including contents, confidential records, cash, keys, furniture and equipment, residents clothing, and possessions.
* To foster and encourage, wherever appropriate contact between children and their families.
3. You will be responsible for working as part of a team to develop the service. You will achieve this by:
* To assist the homes manager in organising and delegating responsibilities to all staff, and planning a duty rota, including sleeping-in duties for staff.
* Providing positive care, support and appropriate boundaries to children and young people.
* Promoting the participation of the young people and the staff team to be fully involved in the decision-making process that affect the day care and running of the home.
* Ensuring you maintain accurate and timely records of all work and interventions, producing reports as required.
* To accept responsibility for such money as may be required in the carrying out of duties and working effectively within your teams allocated budget ensuring that value for money is derived from all resources at your disposal and spending is in accordance with budgeted plans and recorded.
* Working on a flexible basis to ensure necessary cover for the service, which includes regular evening work, weekend work and bank holidays which will be inclusive of sleep- ins.
* To delegate tasks to residential staff and promote/ maintain high standards of cleanliness.
* To be available on an on-call basis to cover staff shortfalls and/or operational deficiencies.
* Being willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers
* Being aware of childcare plans for all young people and providing support for colleagues by maintaining consistency in the execution of those plans
* Providing informal practical and emotional support to colleagues experiencing difficulties
* Contribute to In-House staff development and training programmes e.g., work force diploma.
* To encourage the culture of flexibility and team working amongst the workforce and be prepared to work in other homes if required.
