Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Dorking
Hours: Monday to Friday Days - 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: Up to £35,000 Basic
*This is 6 month fixed term contract
This role is for an organised and detail-oriented finance professional, who will be supporting the accounting function within a busy finance department. Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with reporting and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant:
Assist in maintaining and updating supplier accounts within the Accounts Payable function
Process, scan, and post supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
Perform account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Support the management of the fixed asset register, including asset creation and disposals
Assist with physical audits of assets to ensure compliance with internal and statutory requirements
Prepare and process manual payments for authorisation
Contribute to the preparation of tax packs and financial reports
Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
Produce internal reports including accruals, IT, and R&D reporting
Provide administrative and accounting support to senior finance staffSkills & Competencies needed for the Assistant Accountant:
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to analyse data and resolve discrepancies
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a teamExperience & Qualifications required:
Previous experience in a finance or accounting role preferred
Knowledge of Accounts Payable processes and reconciliationsBenefits:
