THE COMPANY
A well-known food brand are hiring a Quality Assurance Officer for their manufacturing site based in a beautiful rural location on the outskirts of York. They're a small but tight-knit team, big on quality and on doing things right. The manufacturing site has a number of high care production areas. The role reports into a super lovely Quality Manager who’s invested in your progression and development. This is a permanent, full-time position with standard office hours Monday to Friday. No shift working and no weekend working.
THE ROLE
This is role is a mix of desk-based and hands-on tasks that would appeal to someone who doesn't want to be stuck behind a screen all day. You’ll be out on the floor regularly, coaching teams and promoting a positive food safety culture while working closely with the Quality Manager to ensure the smooth running of all quality and technical operations functions and includes:
* The day-to-day management of production legal traceability and quality paperwork
* Supporting the maintenance and continual improvement of the site Food Safety Quality Management System
* Carrying out internal GMP’s, Health and Safety, Glass and Plastic audits
* Preparing site and assisting on external audits
* Keeping audit action lists up to date
* Helping the company meets targets for food quality and safety, hygiene and compliance
* Ensuring work instructions accurately reflect current operating procedures and GMP
* Maintaining the training matrix and working with the operations team to ensure training is carried out
* Setting up training packs to support functional team’s training plans
* Conducting inductions for new starters
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will have some demonstrable experience in food safety and compliance. The Quality Manager is open on your current job title; they’re looking for confidence in a manufacturing environment working with audits, traceability, training records and site standards and that you can bring positive energy to coach others to raise standards. They’re looking for someone who sees non-conformance as an opportunity to improve, not something to punish. A visible, supportive presence helping people shout up, do the right thing, and embed great habits. If you have also participated in BRC or other external audits, even just as a runner on the day, that would be great. Due to their location, you will need to be able to drive and have access to a car.
