GA Drilling is developing next-generation drilling technologies to unlock geothermal energy at depths and in conditions that conventional drilling cannot reach economically. Our mission is to make geothermal a scalable, baseload source of clean power by enabling reliable, efficient drilling in hard, hot rock. With engineering teams in the USA, Brazil, the UK, and across Europe, we are progressing rapidly toward commercial deployment of our technologies.

We are seeking a proactive electronics technician to perform assembly, testing, and maintenance for downhole drilling systems, as well as participate in the prototyping operating and debugging of associated test equipment. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working with established processes and procedures, or with helping to develop and refine new ones.

You will be based at our UK Gloucester Product Center.


The opportunity for you

You will be a core member of the operations team at our UK Product Centre, working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality & Compliance. Your work will ensure that drilling tools are produced, deployed, and maintained. You will have the opportunity to positively impact technology and processes as we move from prototype builds to commercial operations.


You will own

* Safety and Compliance
o Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and quality procedures to ensure safe work practices.
o Support a positive and proactive HSE culture.
o Help maintain a safe, organized, and tidy workshop environment (5S, housekeeping, waste segregation).
* Assembly and Maintenance
o Assemble, disassemble, inspect, and perform maintenance on drilling tools and associated equipment containing electronics according to technical specifications and procedures.
o Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and engineering instructions to facilitate assembly and repair processes.
o Conduct functional tests, performance evaluations, and calibrations on equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
o Maintain accurate and detailed service records, calibration logs, and repair documentation.
o Generate reports on work performed and equipment status.
o Assist with managing the inventory of electronic components, parts, and supplies.
* Troubleshooting and Repair
o Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electronic circuitry, components, and systems using various test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
o Assist with failure reporting.
o Work with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality & Compliance to elevate / solve technical or quality issues, and support investigations.
* Continuous Improvement and Engineering Support
o Assist in the development and refinement of manufacturing, testing, and maintenance procedures and equipment.
o Provide support to engineering teams for new designs and tests.
o Provide feedback to engineering on design improvement opportunities.
o Travel to and assist at field locations if required.
* Engage with other technicians, engineers, field representatives, and functions to resolve issues, support failure analysis, and ensure seamless equipment deployment.


What we expect from you

* Experience & technical skills
o Experience with the assembly, maintenance, and testing of electronics, and electromechanical systems.
o Experience with drilling tool assembly or maintenance would be advantageous.
o Experience with equipment troubleshooting, and report generation.
o Proficiency in using electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) and hand tools.
o Soldering skills (wire harness, surface mount, and through-hole PWB).
o Good computer literacy e.g. Microsoft Office, Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and familiarity with diagnostic software for data entry and analysis.
o Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
o Qualifications: A technical school certificate in electronics, electrical technology e.g. HND / BTEC, or equivalent relevant experience. Relevant IPC certifications e.g. 610, 620, J-STD-001, 7711, 7721 would be advantageous.
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation discipline.
* Structured and reliable, able to follow defined procedures while highlighting gaps or issues when needed.
* Comfortable working with established processes and procedures, or with helping to develop and refine new ones.
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and reporting.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, contributing to improved product performance and reliability.
