Specialist Health Visitor for Black and Minority Ethnic Families
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SCPHN to work in the Healthy Futures Team (HFT) in Brighton and Hove, based in a busy Family Hub in the city centre. The Healthy Futures Team is a commissioned specialist Public Health Visiting and School Nursing service that employs early intervention models to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities for families facing disadvantages in the city. It is a value-led service that adopts a person-centred approach, building therapeutic relationships and working in a relationship-based, trauma-informed way.
The team employs a whole system approach to ensure the best outcomes for families and children. It includes specialists working with Teenage Parents, SEND, Emergency Housing, and Women's Refugees. The postholder will be part of a well-established, skilled team with access to regular supervision and professional development opportunities.
Additionally, the postholder will work with vulnerable transient families in Brighton and Hove, including those in emergency accommodation, asylum seekers, refugees with complex needs, undocumented migrants, Gypsies and Travellers, and those fleeing domestic violence.
Main Duties of the Job
The postholder will supervise and support the delivery of childhood developmental surveillance and health promotion activities, liaising with community partners and other professional groups. They will identify community health needs and develop public health initiatives, particularly for Traveller, BME, and vulnerable transient families, including monitoring and evaluating interventions. The role includes administering immunisations at Traveller locations and clinics.

Job Responsibilities
The postholder, within Sussex Community Foundation Trust (SCFT), acts as a specialist resource for health visitors and staff regarding the health and cultural needs of BME families. They will develop and deliver training, work on service development, and manage a community caseload, including liaising with agencies, supervising staff, and providing mentorship. They will support recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff development.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN HV/SN)
* Additional training or experience working with asylum seekers, refugees, and their families
* Leadership qualification or equivalent experience
Experience
* Experience working with asylum-seeking or refugee children and families
* Experience in multidisciplinary safeguarding and Early Help work
* Experience leading service innovation and improvement
* Knowledge of legislation and guidelines for hard-to-reach groups, including safeguarding
* Ability to work independently in clinical roles
* Understanding of the needs of asylum-seeking and refugee families
* Knowledge of clinical governance and teaching skills
