Job Purpose and Primary Objectives You will work as an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) SME responsible for AWS workspace migration to AVD within 3 months. You will be involved in running, operating, and developing the AVD Environment for Developers and Standard users across geographies worldwide. You will support and administer the Azure Virtual Desktop estate, ensuring secure, performant, and highly available remote working environments. The AVD environment consists of Single and Multisession AVDs, managed from Azure Portal and Infrastructure as Code with DevOps CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Azure CLI, ARM Templates, and PowerShell Scripts. You will be responsible for creating, supporting, and maintaining the Windows environment and related infrastructure (Group Policies, OU, Application Configuration, patching, etc.) provided in AVD. Responsible and accountable for seamless migration and management of AWS workspace migrations for secure nuclear-sensitive environments to AVD. UK SC clearance is required for this role. Key Responsibilities Application compatibility testing for AWS workspace to AVD migration. Migration of AWS workspaces with Win 2016 OS. UAT and pilot testing of workspace to AVD. Identify and resolve migration issues; maintain issue tracker. Migrate workspaces for Standard and Developer instances to AVD. Provide hyper-care support during and post-migration. Create migration documents for handover to BAU teams. Run, operate, and develop the AVD environment. Maintain and manage Windows environment hosted in AVD. Maintain and manage policies/configuration supporting AVD. Work with project team and AVD support team, providing direct end-user support. Manage and maintain all aspects of Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure. Administer host pools, images, user/application access, and resource groups. Support and customize multi-user environments using FSLogix & NetApp (or equivalent). Ensure high availability and DR across AVD components. Administer host pools, images, user/application access, and resource groups. Maintain and manage applications hosted in AVD. Develop and execute Infrastructure as Code pipelines using Terraform and PowerShell. Maintain and manage CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Repos. Develop competency in the team and cross-skill junior SMEs. Ad-hoc travel to Gloucester Business Park. Key Skills/Knowledge Essential: Hands-on experience managing complex AWS workspace migrations to AVD within timelines. In-depth understanding of Azure and AVD architecture, including best practices for design and migration. High proficiency in management, configuration, and deployment of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). Proficient in configuring and managing Resource Pools, Host Groups, Images, Apps, and User Access. Proficient in configuring user customization through FSLogix. Good understanding of Virtual Desktop and Application strategies and best practices. Proficient in Windows Operating System principles, Group Policy Management, PowerShell, and Application Troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of cloud computing fundamentals and Azure. Desirable: Understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., SCRUM). Strong Azure fundamentals. Experience with Terraform IaC pipelines for infrastructure management. Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer responsiveness. Working knowledge of tools like JIRA and ServiceNow. Experience Required Must Have: UK SC clearance. Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines, GitHub Repos, ARM Templates, Azure CLI, Terraform, and PowerShell. Availability to start role immediately. Willingness to provide on-call support. Experience working with Virtual Desktop Support teams providing direct end-user support.
