Clinical Support Worker – Children's Outpatients

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide a high quality of care to patients in our Children's Outpatients.
Our Children's Outpatient services provide care for children and young people from 0 to 18 years across two sites, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital. The department offers clinics for many specialties and visiting consultants from other trusts.
Main duties of the job
* Work under the direction and support of a Registered Children’s Nurse, providing both clinical and administrative duties within defined parameters.
* Record patient information.
* Book and manage appointments using the Lorenzo computer‑based system.
* Assist in delivering clinical care to children and young people, including blood testing, ECGs, and patient observations under the direction of a registered nurse.
* Be aware of the structure and organisation of the NHS.
Person Specification – Essential and Desirable
* Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or relevant experience to a vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to complete the care certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
* Knowledge of care and related procedures.
* Experience completing patient care records.
* Ability to communicate factual information clearly and effectively with tact, empathy, and overcoming barriers such as physical impairments or mental health/learning disabilities.
* Ability to deliver (with appropriate training and competency assessment) a range of clinical care duties such as clinical observations, blood glucose monitoring, ECGs, and simple wound dressings.
