3 months contract with a local authority Job Purpose We are looking for dedicated Residential Childcare Officers for both day and night shifts. As a Residential Childcare Officer, you will be responsible for providing direct care and effective support to young people in our short break home, ensuring they achieve positive outcomes in line with their childcare personal plan. As a Waking Night Officer, you will be awake on duty throughout the night, monitoring and responding to young people's individual needs and the requirements of on-call Managers. Key Duties/Accountabilities Perform duties concerned with the direct care of young people between the ages of 6–18 within the framework of Regulations, Statutory legislation, Council’s Policy, Procedures, and Good Practice Guidelines Ensure that the home meets the standards and expectations of its Statement of Purpose at all times Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people by fulfilling all duties and responsibilities required by relevant legislation and procedures Essential Experience Required Capable of administering the Home in the absence of more senior staff in accordance with the Council policies and relevant legislation Familiarity with the Social Care Wales and Cardiff Council Codes of Conduct for Social Care Workers Essential Qualification Required Registered with Social Care Wales as a Residential Childcare Officer/Waking Night Officer Additional Information Working hours: 37 hours per week Enhanced DBS check required Driving license and business insurance are essential Full training provided as part of a comprehensive induction programme Generous enhancements paid for evenings, weekend working, Bank Holidays, and sleeping in duties In addition to making a positive impact on the lives of our children, there are generous enhancements paid for evenings, weekend working, Bank Holidays and sleeping in duties, additional to your salary. You will receive an additional salary enhancement of 30% after 8pm weekdays, 50% weekends and £40.80 per sleep in. (Waking Nights will not receive the sleep in rate) Participation in handovers at the beginning and end of the shift required Looking for both day and night workers to be placed on a rota to cover shifts across our children’s homes in Cardiff. They will be 8 – 12-hour shifts on a rota.
