Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Technician
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to ensure the operation and maintenance of site electrical systems in accordance with industry standards and codes of practice.
1. Maintain and operate electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry guidelines.
2. Perform and document Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks for as-built equipment in a timely and high-quality manner.
3. Carry out day-to-day maintenance and respond to reactive issues concerning electrical assets.
4. Provide complete and accurate feedback into computer-based systems, particularly the PPM system.
5. Identify faults, rectify issues, and escalate problems related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems as necessary.
6. Install and modify electrical services on-site.
7. Maintain effective communication with the Shift Supervisor regarding plant status, issues, and housekeeping standards.
8. Ensure parts are accurately specified and report any difficulties encountered during engineering activities.
9. Keep plant areas, workshops, stores, and rest areas clean and organized.
10. Operate and troubleshoot systems including:
* Building electrical installations and associated panels and circuits
* Emergency lighting and lighting control systems
* Building Management Systems (BMS)
* Fire suppression and detection systems
* Air conditioning systems, VAVs, FCUs, and split systems
* Air Handling Units (AHUs) and variable speed drives
* Heating systems
* Generators and controls
* Single and three-phase motors
* UPS systems and controls
* High Voltage (HV) systems (training provided)
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience in the building services industry.
* C&G Level 1 and 2 or equivalent in electrical services/maintenance.
* 18th Edition IEE Wiring & Installation certification.
* HV Approved Person (preferred but not essential).
* Confined Space entry training (if required).
* Recognized training or apprenticeship in electrical maintenance.
Skills and Attributes:
* Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all staff levels.
* Technical competence in building services, especially UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration, and air conditioning.
* Proactive approach to achieving operational excellence.
* Willingness to undertake training and travel as needed, including nights away.
* Reliable, conscientious, and committed with high integrity and punctuality.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
* Enthusiastic, diligent, and alert, with a willingness to participate in training schemes.
