GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Educational Support Worker for a vibrant school setting in Poole. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for individuals with a strong passion for helping young learners overcome barriers to learning, both academically and emotionally.
About the Role:
As an Educational Support Worker, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to students with additional needs. Your role will involve helping students access the curriculum, develop key life skills, and build confidence in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support students on a one-to-one or small group basis to enhance learning outcomes
* Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning atmosphere
* Help manage classroom behaviour and promote emotional regulation strategies
* Provide feedback to teachers and contribute to student progress reports
* Support pupils with personal care if required and ensure their wellbeing throughout the day
Job Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or SEN setting.
* A calm, patient and adaptable approach to individual student needs.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
* A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Ability to remain composed under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
* Qualifications in education, health and social care, or psychology are desirable but not essential.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
