Job description
The Learning Disability Team are currently looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join us at Torfaen County Borough Council, Adult & Communities division. We are a multi-disciplinary team that works together with partner agencies to meet the social care needs of adults from the age of 18 with a learning disability. Our aim is to work proactively with individuals, to promote choice, control, and positive risk taking to achieve outcomes in areas that matter most to the individual.
The successful candidate will be a registered social worker who will be based in the New Inn area of Torfaen. You will be committed to working in a strengths-based style focusing on ‘what matters’ to the individual.
We are looking for flexibility, enthusiasm and dedication to working positively with individuals in the community. You will need to be able to form and develop positive relationships with individuals and carers to ensure that they are supported to achieve outcomes that matter to them.
The successful individual will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team who are co located with health, comprising of social workers, psychiatrist, psychologist, OT, OT assistant, a speech and language therapist.

Qualifications and Requirements
Registration with Social Care Wales is required for this position.
Welsh Language Skills are desirable for this post but not essential. You are welcome to submit your application in English or in Welsh. Each application will be treated equally.
Social Worker - Learning Disability Team is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants, which will include an Enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
