Our projects are diverse and range from conceptual fire strategy development through to handing over landmark projects, such as the Tate Modern, Macallan distillery, Birmingham New Street Station and the Eden Project; we undertake fire safety research to develop evidence-based solutions for novel fire safety hazards and strive to find ways to improve safety equity for the most vulnerable. We do this for our clients, and in partnership with academia and industry, applying our ‘total fire engineering' approach, allowing us to work on project from feasibility to operation. We strive to enable a sustainable, resilient built environment, using the latest knowledge and expertise, assisted by our own in-house digital tools and software.
Our commitment to make this world a safer place is demonstrated through Arup's commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development goals. For example, A framework for fire safety in informal settlements has been developed by Arup Fire to facilitate collaboration and alignment of global efforts to create safer and more resilient informal settlement communities and Arup has produced industry guidance for Fire Safe Design of Mass Timber Buildings.
