Job Description & Summary
If you’ve a passion for technology and want to gain hands-on experience whilst also studying, then you can enjoy this and more on our Technology Degree Apprenticeship programme with Ada, the National College for Digital Skills in Manchester.
As an apprentice at PwC, you’ll get to work on a range of exciting client projects and be part of our talented technology teams based in our Manchester office. Your off-the-job training will be undertaken at Ada College in Manchester working towards your Degree Apprenticeship qualification. As part of your journey, you'll receive many on-the-job development opportunities, enabling you to grow your career as a technologist at PwC on the following pathways: Data Analyst, Technology Consulting or Software Engineering.
What you'll do
During this three-year apprenticeship you’ll be part of PwC’s community of technologists who'll support you and help you to develop and grow in your role.
At PwC, our technology teams are diverse, and our apprentices join a range of different teams including our Technology Consulting, Data and Analytics, Digital Audit, Deals and Tech Central business areas. As part of this community, you’ll experience lots of digital and technology projects using a range of technology tools and processes. You’ll also work alongside more experienced technology professionals, as well as with other apprentices.
You’ll join PwC as either a Data Analyst, a Technology Consultant, or a Software Engineer. The modules that you’ll study as part of your degree apprenticeship and the teams that you’ll work with at PwC will be relevant to your pathway and will also enable you to develop as a well-rounded technologist.
The pattern of study is designed to fit around your full-time employment. You’ll kickstart your apprenticeship with a six-week Launchpad induction at Ada College, and you’ll spend time at the PwC office too. This will help you to settle into life as an apprentice at PwC and Ada, National College for Digital Skills. You’ll also start studying towards your degree and have the opportunity to build relationships with your fellow apprentices.
After Launchpad, you’ll get started on-the-job in the PwC office and then approximately every eight weeks, you’ll return to college for a week of study towards your modules for the remainder of the three years.
What you'll gain
As part of the apprenticeship, you’ll study towards a Level 6 degree apprenticeship in BSc Digital and Technology Solutions, specialising as either a Data Analyst, Software Engineer or Technology Consultant. We’ll work with you to identify which pathway is right for you based on your skills, preferences, and business need.
As you’d expect you’ll also receive a competitive salary and benefits package, alongside full funding for your tuition fees to gain your degree apprenticeship qualification*.
As well as your formal learning through Ada, National College for Digital Skills, you’ll also be supported with your on-the-job learning and every apprentice will be allocated a buddy and a Career Coach who’ll help support your own development journey.
Minimum starting salary of £23,900.00, plus benefits.
*Salary will vary according to the periods you are on placement with the firm and the periods during which you are studying at university.
What you'll need
Candidates should have achieved or be expecting to achieve at least 112 UCAS points, or equivalent, with a substantial maths component for those pursuing the Data pathway.
However, we understand that personal circumstances and your socio-economic background (e.g. family income) can impact your ability to fulfil your full potential at school. If you think that this may apply to you, we’d be keen to hear from you if you’re on track to achieve a minimum of 96 UCAS points (or equivalent) and can demonstrate the relevant skills and interest.
You will need a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Please note that to be eligible for an apprenticeship in England, the government does require that you have UK/EEA Nationality or Permanent Residency Status and have resided in the UK/EEA for at least three years prior to starting your apprenticeship.
This programme is for students who do not already have a Computer Science (or similar) degree, and who are starting out a career in the fields of software engineering, cyber security or data science. If you already have a similar degree or are an experienced professional in this area, please review PwC’s graduate and experienced professional opportunities.
We may need to discuss your eligibility with you during the application process. These eligibility criteria are defined by the UK government and may be subject to change.
* PwC reserves the right to change the funding model of this programme as a result of an ongoing review of degree apprenticeships by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. Please see our careers website for more details. All applicants will be kept updated throughout the application process and we expect the results of the review in Spring 2022.
When to apply
Once you have submitted your application you'll have seven days to complete the online test, this is the first stage of our recruitment process.
Assessment centres for this role will take place between 19th Feb - 4th March 2024. We expect to be able to give you at least a week's notice to attend.
Applications for this role may close early should we receive a high volume of interest so we recommend prompt application to avoid disappointment.
