Overview
The successful candidate will support the orthopaedic trauma and elective service across the Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. The role involves a 1 in 12 orthopaedic trauma rota, elective surgery sessions and direct clinical care on-calls and supporting professional activities (SPAs). The weekly programme averages 10 sessions including clinics, theatre, on-calls and professional activities.
You will become part of a team of 16 orthopaedic consultants within a wider Trauma, Orthopaedic and Plastics department of 48 consultants across the Northern Care Alliance (NCA). The job plan will be reviewed during the initial six‑month period and can be discussed for flexibility for candidates unable to work full time.
Responsibilities
* Cover dedicated on‑calls and trauma lists on a 1 in 12 rota at the Oldham trauma unit.
* Provide general trauma service and specialist foot and ankle surgery.
* Attend elective and fracture clinics at Fairfield General Hospital.
* Perform elective day‑case operating sessions at Rochdale Infirmary, with occasional in‑patient work at Fairfield General Hospital.
Qualifications
* FRCS or equivalent.
* Completion of CCST/higher specialist training or equivalent in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council.
Desirable
* Membership of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).
* Membership of a specialist society.
* Experience of Foot & Ankle surgery and management of diabetic feet.
* Evidence of audited clinical practice and participation in clinical governance.
* Postgraduate teaching and training experience at local, regional and national level.
