Queensbury is a large Secondary Special School with a satellite 6th Form Centre (approximately 343 11 – 19 year old students in total), all with Educational Health Care Plans, which caters for students with Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties and a range of complex needs. Our positive, caring ethos provides a safe, stable, hardworking learning environment where everyone is valued.
We are seeking to appoint an aspirational, outstanding practitioner to join our Senior Leadership Team.
Job Purpose:
This role is an integral part of the strategic leadership of Queensbury School. The Director of Learning for Inclusion will be a leader with a proven track record whose role will focus on:
1. Establishing, leading, and managing appropriate provision and support for pupils with complex and vulnerable needs requiring additional support through targeted SEND teaching strategies, assessment, and intervention.
2. Providing outstanding leadership on school improvement, embedding neurodiverse, communication, and autism specialist teaching strategies with staff across Queensbury School and New Horizons.
3. Co-constructing school improvement solutions and sharing best practices with school leaders within individual schools and across the Trust to contribute to the overall success of the Education Impact Academy Trust.
4. Designing, implementing, and evaluating staff training programs to enhance skills, knowledge, and performance, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
5. Serving as the Children in Care Lead, working with multi-agencies to ensure these students are supported and thrive.
6. Raising standards, challenging performance, and supporting school improvement and effectiveness, including compliance with Ofsted, DfE requirements, and best practices in SEND.
7. Collaborating closely with the Executive Headteacher, Heads of School, Lead SENCo, and the Senior Leadership Team.
8. Leading and managing Queensbury School as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
