I’m working exclusively with a highly regarded, Medical Communications agency to appoint a Head of AI in a brand-new, senior leadership role.
This agency works with leading global pharmaceutical and biotech clients and has a strong reputation for scientific quality, strategic thinking, and innovation. They are now making a deliberate investment in AI and are looking for someone to shape the vision, define the guardrails, and embed AI in a meaningful, responsible way across the business.
The opportunity
This is a newly created role with significant scope to mould and define. You’ll have the backing of senior leadership and the autonomy to build an AI agenda that genuinely adds value for clients, teams, and the wider organisation.
It’s an ideal role for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of AI, strategy, people, and governance, rather than sitting purely in a technical function.
The position is fully remote within the UK - you must have full right to work in the UK.
The role
As Head of AI, you will be the senior lead for all things AI across the agency, acting as a trusted adviser to leadership and a practical enabler for delivery teams.
Key responsibilities include:
* Defining and owning the agency’s AI vision, strategy, and road map
* Advising senior leadership on AI opportunities, risks, and investment priorities
* Leading the evaluation and roll out of AI tools (including generative AI and automation)
* Embedding AI into real-world workflows across editorial, medical, digital, strategy, and operations teams
* Establishing AI governance, policies, and best-practice guidance suitable for a regulated pharma environment
* Building AI capability and confidence through training, resources, and change management
* Supporting new business activity and AI-enabled client propositions
* Representing the agency externally through thought leadership and senior client conversations
About you
My client is open on background, but this role will suit someone who:
* Has senior experience in AI, digital innovation, transformation, or advanced technology leadership
* Has hands-on experience applying AI (particularly generative AI) in real organisational settings
* Understands the realities of working in regulated environments such as pharma, healthcare, life sciences, or similar
* Is comfortable balancing innovation with governance, quality, and risk
* Can influence at senior level and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
