About the opportunity
We’re looking for a Supply Chain Lead to strengthen delivery performance across raw materials, and subcontract processes in a medium volume, high mix aerospace machining environment. You’ll bring urgency, structure and calm escalation to keep customer commitments protected—especially where long lead time materials and external processing routes can make or break OTD.
Main Duties
1. Own purchasing & expediting for aerospace materials and components—ensuring the right material is available when production needs it.
2. Manage subcontract operations ( specialist processing routes) and keep visibility of progress, constraints and recovery actions—end to end.
3. Supplier performance management: lead time control, delivery recovery, and robust communication—driving OTIF and reducing “surprise” shortages.
4. Compliance & flow down: ensure customer conditions of supply and quality requirements are flowed down to suppliers/sub tiers; check and manage the use of approved supplier lists where required.
5. Shortage/risk leadership: maintain a clear constraints list, own escalation, and run pragmatic recovery plans with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
6. Cross functional coordination: work daily with Planning, Production, Quality and Commercial to prioritise actions that protect customer delivery.
7. Customer-facing support (when needed): provide credible updates and options during supply chain recovery activity with customers/partners.
The Supply Chain Lead will be accountable against clear, delivery focused KPIs, including
8. On Time Delivery (OTD / OTIF) performance to customer commit dates.
9. Material & subcontract shortages (frequency, duration and impact on production).
10. Supplier lead time adherence vs agreed lead times.
11. Supplier delivery performance (OTD and recovery effectiveness).
12. Escalation & recovery cycle time for late or at risk orders.
13. Compliance performance, including correct flow down, certification and traceability.
Essential Experience
14. Proven experience in supply chain / procurement / expediting within aerospace or regulated manufacturing.
15. Strong understanding of long lead materials, supplier constraints and subcontract processing dependencies.
16. Confidence to challenge, escalate and recover—without damaging supplier relationships.
17. Solid admin discipline: PO management, chasing, documentation and traceability mindset.
Desirable
18. Familiarity with AS9100/EN9100 working environments and audit expectations.
19. Experience managing approved supplier lists and customer/sub tier compliance requirements.
20. ERP/MRP experience (any mainstream system).
21. CIPS (or working towards), or equivalent practical experience.
What you’ll get
22. A role with real ownership and visibility—direct impact on time delivery and customer confidence.
23. A collaborative manufacturing environment where decisions are made quickly and you can make meaningful improvements.
24. Competitive package and long term progression opportunities.
What we offer
25. Competitive salary.
26. Generous annual leave entitlement.
27. Exciting benefits package with access to discounts from leading retailers.
28. Purpose built sites with free parking.
29. Discounted gym membership.
30. Excellent career development opportunities available.
