Job Overview
We are seeking a self‑motivated, patient/service focused individual to join our existing team of Pharmacy Assistants working within the dispensary. The role facilitates the smooth flow of work through the dispensary, ensuring patients’ medication supply needs are met as a priority and that all people involved in the process, including patients and staff, are provided with necessary information.
Operating the computer systems based in the dispensary, the assistant provides administrative and clerical support for dispensary related work. Speaking Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties
* Assist in labelling, dispensing and preparation of prescriptions that have been clinically checked by a pharmacist, and prepare them for final checking.
* Operate computer systems necessary for dispensing and ensure all information relating to dispensed items is accurate and documented/stored appropriately.
* Perform reception work, dispense prescriptions, maintain adequate stock of supplies and carry out housekeeping duties.
* Assist with the QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services; preferred applicants have GCSE grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English language.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services, or willingness to undertake and achieve NVQ Level 2 within 12 months of appointment.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Work within own limitations.
* Basic knowledge of computer systems.
* Ability to work under pressure/to time schedules.
* Able to perform all tasks described in the job description.
* Participate in the provision of general public holiday and weekend pharmacy services, as necessary.
Desirable criteria
* GCSE pass or equivalent in Maths and English Language.
* Familiar with drug names.
* Experience of working in a similar environment, either in a hospital or chemist.
* Experience of working with computers.
