SEND Support Assistant Location: Peterlee Working hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm (Monday to Friday) Temporary, long term, immediate start Leader Education are seeking a caring and committed SEND Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive specialist school that provides exceptional education and care for pupils aged 2–19. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work in a specialist environment where learners are supported according to their individual needs. As part of a dedicated and nurturing staff team, you will help create a positive, safe, and inclusive atmosphere where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and achieve their personal goals. In this role, you will support children and young people with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning and take part fully in school life. Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, particularly within a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting. An understanding of inclusive practice and the ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs will be important in helping pupils succeed both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with patience, empathy, and a positive team approach, are essential in creating a supportive learning environment that promotes the wellbeing and progress of every pupil.
