Transport Scotland is seeking a Strategic Communications Manager for the A9 Dualling Team within the Infrastructure Projects Directorate. The role will focus on communications for the southern half of the A9 Dualling Programme, contributing to the delivery of a major Scottish Government transport project.
Responsibilities
* Work with Delivery leads within Major Projects and the News team to produce, prepare, identify and coordinate communications opportunities for the A9 Dualling Programme and related contracts.
* Collaborate with contractors and project managers to ensure timely delivery of communications materials in line with contract requirements and TS guidelines.
* Enhance the profile of existing communications, promoting the A9 Dualling Programme across available media and identifying new opportunities to inform the public positively.
* Identify key stakeholders, define engagement tactics and support the development of communication and engagement campaigns to support programme delivery.
* Prepare media advisory and stakeholder responses, organise media events and manage reactive media and social media enquiries.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a suitable degree in Communications, Engagement or a related subject, or an equivalent professional qualification.
Experience
* Experience in planning, project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines.
* Experience building constructive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and senior‑level partners.
* Proven ability to produce high‑standard communication products using effective channels and technologies to maximise impact.
* Experience dealing with media.

Working pattern
Standard hours are 35 hours per week. Flexible working options are available, including Flexi‑leave. The role is based in Glasgow, with visits to project sites at least monthly and on occasion for overnight stays. Availability for enquiries outside normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays, may be required.
Security checks
Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before appointment, including identity, right to work, employment history and unspent convictions checks.
Pay supplement
Communications pay supplement of £3,000 per annum pro rata, rising to £5,000 after 12 months of successful service.
