Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist - Allergy and Clinical Immunology

We are seeking an exceptional and highly skilled Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Allergy and Clinical Immunology services. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a specialist team, drive service innovation, and ensure the highest standards of patient care.

As the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will lead on the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care using highly specialist expertise in Allergy clinical practice. You will work with clinical teams to ensure delivery of high-quality, clinically effective and cost-efficient healthcare across both specialties, aligned to national standards and best practice.

As an expert practitioner, you will provide care through nurse-led clinics and work with the multi-disciplinary teams to deliver a service to adults & children in an Out-Patient setting. Experience and knowledge in Biological treatments, venom and pollen desensitization/immunotherapy will be a requirement for this post.


Main duties of the job

* Leadership and management of a workforce of specialist nurses within Allergy and clinical immunology services.
* Responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation of care, utilising highly specialist skills in Allergy clinical practice.
* Responsible for ensuring high quality, clinical and cost-effective healthcare across both Allergy and Clinical Immunology specialties.
* Be involved in the strategic review of clinical services as appropriate and introducing innovative ways of working in response to increasing patient demand and meeting performance targets.
* Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse with a degree
* Post registration module in Specialist field of work
* Research Module
* Advanced clinical assessment skills (if nurse led services are part of role)
* Teaching and mentoring qualification
* Evidence of continuous professional development with a portfolio of learning
* Leadership and management module
* Willingness & ability to work toward masters
* Non-medical prescriber


Knowledge/experience

* Significant clinical experience as clinical nurse specialist in Allergy
* Recognised as an expert in the field of practice with in-depth knowledge and broad experience
* Experience in audit management
* Evidence of leading service change
* Clinical experience in Immunology nursing
* Project management


Skills

* Good communication skills with proven ability to influence all levels of staff
* Ability to work autonomously in nurse-led clinics
* Proven leadership skills - to lead/ build teams
* Proven ability to manage and progress own and others' professional development
* Presentation skills - verbal and written
* Able to effectively respond to change and apply added value of change to service developments in practice
* Proven ability with the management and delivery of Clinical Governance - quality and safety assurance
* Clinical skills in Clinical Immunology
