We are looking for a strong Diagnostic Technician who can genuinely fault-find — not just plug in and replace parts. If you understand live data, wiring diagrams, module communication faults and complex electrical issues, keep reading.
This is a busy, well-equipped independent workshop with an excellent local reputation. The workload is varied and increasingly diagnostic-heavy, so we need someone who enjoys solving problems properly.
What's On Offer
* £36,000 - £45,000 Base Salary
* Modern workshop with up-to-date equipment
* Stable, long-established independent business
* Supportive but professional working environment
* Real autonomy for a capable technician
* Monday to Friday - NO Weekends
* Training facilities on site
The Role
You will be responsible for:
* Advanced fault-finding on modern petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV vehicles
* Interpreting live data, scope readings and wiring diagrams
* Diagnosing CAN bus, sensor, actuator and module faults
* Carrying out complex electrical and mechanical repairs
* Supporting junior technicians with technical guidance
* Maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency
You'll still carry out mechanical work when required, but diagnostics will be a key part of your day-to-day responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
* Proven diagnostic experience in a busy workshop
* Confident with modern diagnostic platforms and software
* Strong electrical and systems knowledge
* Ability to work independently without constant oversight
* Professional, methodical approach to problem solving
Level 3 qualification preferred. EV / Hybrid experience advantageous.
If you're a proper diagnostic technician who enjoys solving complex faults and wants to be valued for your skillset, this is the role.
