Are you an experienced Technical Author looking for an exciting new opportunity as part of Allan Webbs Technical Publications Department?

Salary £42,000 to £43,000 + great Benefits Package & company culture. Hybrid working model based out of our Yeovil Office.


What will the role involve?

As a sector specialist you will have experience in creating, editing and maintain technical documents, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Service Bulletins, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC) to meet the agreed requirements. Taking ownership for activities under your control are undertaken in accordance with the requirements set out in the GP Strategies, Technical Publications, Health and Safety Manual.

* Populate illustrated Parts Data in EAGLE.
* Produce technical documentation to the required quality and Specifications.
* Produce Technical documents as required in a timely manner.
* Ensure quality control of documentation in accordance with applicable technical authoring specifications and standards.
* Maintain records and files of all versions and revisions in conjunction with document control.
* Support the technical verification and validation of technical documentation.
* Carry out assessments of future work as detailed by the platform lead.
* Support the timely delivery of the agreed updates/creation of Publications and IPS technical data to meet the requirements of all stakeholders.
* Production of Technical information to the correct standard within the timeframe allocated by the statement of work.
* Reporting to the relevant Platform Lead author but also involved in direct working relationships with the other platform authors.


Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a motivated and highly experienced candidate with HNC level or equivalent in a relevant aviation related subject. Alternatively, to have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship followed by a period of employment in all aspects of aircraft maintenance and overhaul, sufficient to gain the necessary practical experience for the job role.

* Detailed knowledge of Supportability and Air Publication specifications e.g. ASD S1000D (Issue 2.1 and 2.2), Def-Stan 00-60, S2000M, ATA2-02-90 etc.
* A good working knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE-100).
* Knowledge of technical authoring and production tools e.g. Framemaker, EAGLE, Eagle Publishing System (EPS) and CAPS2000.
* Have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and use Enovia and Catia.
* Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office programmes.
* Excellent inter-personal skills.
* Have ability to work to changing deadlines under pressure.
* A knowledge of Merlin or Wildcat aircraft preferred but not essential.
* Flexibility to work under your own initiative as well as part of a dynamic Team.
