As a Project Accountant based in Salford Quays, you will play an integral role in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting through diligent project accounting processes.
Key duties include:
* Perform daily, monthly, and year-end accounting activities with precision to ensure accurate financial statements for each reporting period.
* Set up projects and contracts across multiple divisions, handling eventing, journal processing, and status changes as required by stakeholders.
* Manage payroll recoveries when necessary, ensuring all related transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.
* Conduct monthly reconciliations of Work In Progress (WIP) and Construction In Progress (CIP), maintaining clean and reliable project balances.
* Undertake cleansing activities such as housekeeping, correcting mispostings, making bulk changes, and fixing errors to uphold data integrity.
* Create and manage capital expenditure (Capex) projects, proactively identifying overspends and supporting timely investigation of old balances to mitigate risks.
* Support the annual audit calendar by preparing documentation and participating in audit activities as needed.
* Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for regular SaaS releases and other system developments to ensure smooth transitions and improvements.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues across Finance Operations to resolve discrepancies, share knowledge through cross-training, and maintain robust process documentation.
* Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, implementing best practices, and complying with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Ideally you will have the following experience:
* Qualified accountant (or part-qualified/QBE) with significant experience in Record-to-Report (RTR) functions within a finance department.
* Proficiency in accounting software systems-ideally Oracle Fusion ERP and Projects subledger-with a keen interest in leveraging technology for process improvement.
* A digital mindset that embraces change, supports automation initiatives, and seeks out innovative solutions for greater efficiency.
* Exceptional organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical abilities for problem-solving complex issues.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines during critical reporting periods such as month-end or year-end close.
