Offer description

Please note: This role is Part Time 28hrs per week. As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll play an essential role in delivering high-quality care through food. You'll help prepare and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals that support the health and wellbeing of our Residents—many of whom have specific dietary needs. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Assisting with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook
2. Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner
3. Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces
4. Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.)
5. Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are properly stored
6. Showing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment
7. Washing up and ensuring the kitchen remains spotless, even after a busy lunch rush

Everything you do will reflect your care for the Residents, always keeping their comfort and dignity front of mind. We will provide full training, making it a great opportunity to learn something new. In return, you will enjoy a variety of benefits to support your physical and psychological wellbeing. Throughout your career as a Kitchen Assistant, we will invest in you with additional support and benefits, including:

* We are looking for someone with some kitchen experience and a genuine passion for helping others. You should have either an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to work towards it.
* Strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to follow recipes and record information accurately are essential.
* Most importantly, every interaction with Residents or co-workers should be marked by patience, respect, and kindness.
* Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know what to do if concerns arise. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and undertake additional training as needed.

At HC-One, kindness is more than a word—it's a way of life. We believe caring for people means caring about what matters most to them, supporting them to live their best lives. We foster five key qualities—what we call "Kindness the HC-One Way":

* We are curious—asking questions, seeking understanding.
* We are compassionate—walking in others' shoes.
* We are creative—finding practical solutions.
* We are courageous—supporting residents' choices.
* We are dependable—people can always count on us.

We champion inclusivity, fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. Our diverse workforce helps us learn from one another and better reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and prioritize inclusive practices. We are also enhancing our digital care planning to streamline care and improve outcomes. As we grow our digital capabilities, we're looking for team members comfortable with technology or open to learning.

You'll be supported throughout. We care about our colleagues and are committed to your personal and professional development. From the job offer to your start, we aim for a quick onboarding process with full support. We offer clear career pathways, ongoing professional development, and postgraduate programs, investing in your growth and opening opportunities at regional and national levels.
