Overview
BAM UK & Ireland are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Commercial Manager to strengthen our existing team on the large civil engineering project, the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project.
EGL2 is a joint venture with Hitachi Energy (HEBAM) and is a five‑year project to create a 525kV, 2GW high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea transmission cable from Peterhead, Scotland, to Drax, England – the longest HVDC cable in the UK and the UK’s single largest transmission project, providing enough power for 2 million UK homes.

* This role will be based at our Peterhead site.

Responsibilities
* Maintain effective communications with the Framework Director, Regional Commercial Manager, project management and other associated disciplines, and enhance the profile of commercial services.
* Be responsible for staff matters, including succession awareness, recruitment, development, attitude and behavioural issues, competency and retainment issues, and staff allocation.
* Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre‑contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
* Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
* Provide commercial input to contacts with clients, and, if necessary, client representatives.
* Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues and provide input to area commercial discussions/reviews.
* Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
* Ensure the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company‑tied costs; obtain cash‑flow information and present all reports.
* Provide input to dispute identification and management.
* Produce and negotiate insurance claims with the insurer’s representatives.
* Agree terms and engage legal and commercial consultants and monitor their accounts.
* Maintain contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to contract documentation.
* Carry out sub‑contract document vetting and input to sub‑contract documentation.
Qualifications
* Successful experience as a Commercial Manager working with multiple projects and a minimum of four years in this role.
* Educated to degree level in a relevant commercial, construction or project management qualification (preferred but not essential).
* Joint venture experience.
* Member of a professional institution or working towards application of the ICES, or similar.
* Open collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around you.
