Job Description:
Mechanical Engineer required for a sheet metal fabrication company based in Maidenhead. The successful candidate will have experience in sheet metal, primarily working within the commercial department and collaborating with production and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include initial cost analysis, development, and management of projects.
Position Overview:
Assist customers with original designs, develop work instructions using in-house software, and seek efficiency improvements in existing parts and processes.
Responsibilities:
* Verify designs and drawings for manufacturing, utilizing CAD software and office tools.
* Prepare technical quotations and work instructions for new designs, using bespoke software (full training provided).
* Create manufacturing instructions for in-house production.
* Address manufacturing issues through production readiness reviews.
* Collaborate with design teams to resolve design discrepancies and prepare additional drawings as needed.
Requirements:
* Understanding of engineering principles and ability to read engineering drawings, with willingness to learn sheet metal fabrication details.
* Experience or understanding of sheet metal processes and design.
* Proficiency in CAD/3D Modeling software like Solid Edge or SolidWorks, preferably in sheet metal.
* Knowledge of products, processes, operations, and logistics.
* Good communication skills for discussing projects with customers' design and engineering teams.
* Relevant engineering qualifications (degree, BTEC, GCSEs in technical sciences), all levels considered.
* Ability to work effectively in small and large teams.
Remuneration:
Full-time position with a salary range of £28,500 to £40,000 per year.
Benefits include on-site parking. Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday.
