Role Specialist social worker covering maternity leave (starting January 2026, up to a year; potential permanent)
Overview
The team is jointly commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottinghamshire NHS Trust. It works with children and young people who are looked after and living away from their birth parents, in foster care or residential care, and with those who have been adopted. It offers specialist consultation and support, including therapeutic interventions, medication reviews, and training for carers and professionals.
Responsibilities
• Provide statutory childcare social work with significant experience in the service area, including post‑qualification experience in statutory childcare social work.
• Work with children and young people who are looked after, living with foster carers, in residential care or newly adopted, providing direct assessment, direct work and therapeutic interventions.
• Offer specialist consultation and support to families, including medication reviews and training for carers and professionals.
• Work from home and office, and support services within clinics and homes across the county.
• Participate in safeguarding procedures and support the welfare of vulnerable children, young people and adults.
• Use statutory assessments, care plans, and coordination with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with professional and statutory guidelines.
Qualifications
• Social work qualification.
• Significant experience within the statutory childcare service area, post‑qualification in statutory childcare social work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people.
