A leading Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to oversee the heavy civils and infrastructure package on a major timber frame housing development in Thanet, Kent. This long-term project is currently in the early stages, with a £5M package underway for new roads, drainage, and associated infrastructure, delivered by subcontractor Walker Construction. This is a key standalone role, acting as the client-side engineer on site. You will be Lovell's first person on the ground, working alongside Walker Construction and reporting to the Project Director (joining in the coming weeks). This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a crucial package on a large-scale housing scheme and remain on the project through to completion. Key Responsibilities: * Oversee and manage the subcontractor (Walker Construction) delivering roads, drainage, and civils * Ensure compliance with engineering designs and technical specifications * Drive H&S, QA, QC and monitor works against programme and quality benchmarks * Review and approve RAMS, traffic management plans, and temporary works * Collaborate closely with site teams and act as the eyes and ears for the main contractor * Regularly report progress, issues, and risks to the visiting Project Director Ideal Candidate: * Experienced Senior Engineer with a background in roads and heavy civils * Strong understanding of engineering principles, H&S standards, and site management * Confident reviewing technical drawings, RAMS, and traffic plans * Previous experience representing the main contractor in a client-side role * Able to work independently and take initiative on a developing site What’s on Offer: * Long-term position on a multi-year housing project * Competitive rate/salary (depending on experience) * Opportunity to take early ownership of a major package with a leading contractor * On-site based role with real responsibility and autonomy This is a fantastic role for a Senior Engineer who enjoys being hands-on with infrastructure packages and wants to be involved from the ground up on a flagship project
