Consultant BMS in Cervical Screening Pathway Manager for EoE
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Consultant Biomedical Scientist (BMS) in Cervical Screening Pathway Manager for EoE. The role works under the direction of the Cytology Clinical Lead and deputises for the Consultant BMS Lead as required. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and experience as a clinical cytologist, providing clinical advice on patient management and follow‑up recommendations, delivering specialist training to departmental staff and to service users inside and outside the Trust.
Job Responsibilities
* Report and refer abnormal cervical screening samples.
* Manage the review of cases for regional colposcopy MDT meetings and review of invasive cases for audit.
* Act as the STP regional pathway manager, leading inter‑organisational cooperation, communication and processes to maintain quality across the STP region within the East of England.
* Serve as the point of focus for communication between the Norfolk & Waveney cervical screening service and service users across the STP region, liaising with NHS England & NHS Improvement Screening & Imms Team, SQAS Team, Cancer Registry, regional STP NHS Trusts, GP surgeries, community clinics, iCaSH sexual health clinics, HM military and HM Prison institutions.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* IBMS/RCPath Advanced Specialist Diploma in Cervical Cytology.
* NHSCSP Certificate of Cervical Cytology.
Experience
* Highly developed specialist knowledge of cytology practice.
* Proficient in quality and clinical audit, administration and development of cytology services.
Skills
* Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practice of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.
* Forward‑thinking and aware of current issues and future trends impacting the service.
* Excellent verbal, written and presentational skills.
Desirable
* Breaking Bad News Training.
* Teaching experience.
* Record of publications.

* Enthusiastic, positive and highly motivated, able to relate well to all levels of personnel.
